This delightful graphic novel has a great combination of fantastic art and a humorous, interesting plot. It will be popular with young readers (I'd say 3rd grade and up) who will enjoy the story of the dejected monster who must regain his confidence in order to be scary, and his unusual approach to banishing the evil murk. There are, however, enough grown-up jokes present to entertain the most jaded skeptic, as well as an interesting Victorian feel and some word-based jokes that will appeal to older readers and adults. Really, this book could be enjoyed by any age. I was having a rotten day and it cheered me up. Why someone hasn't optioned this for an animated feature already is completely beyond me.
