A Silver Star (not a gold one)

The Silver Star - Jeannette Walls

Jeanette Walls latest novel again examines the relationship between fractured family members, specifically a certifiably crazy mom and her street smart, literate daughters. As in most of Walls work, the children are not terribly bitter that the adults are unable to care for them properly, but accept the adults as they are. While the book is entertaining, it does sometimes feel like a do-over of Walls' autobiographical best-seller The Glass Castle, which had both humor and authenticity going for it.
